HR NEWSFLASH - QUALIFYING PERIOD FOR UNFAIR DISMISSAL CLAIMS
We have previously reported that with effect from April 2012, the qualifying period for bringing an unfair dismissal claim will increase from one year to two years. However, it is also now confirmed that the increase in the qualifying period will not be retrospective.
This means that the two year qualifying period will apply only to employees who start their employment on or after 6 April 2012. Those employed before this date will be able claim unfair dismissal after one year’s service.
